On October 10, 2019, the Heralds of the Gospel were sought by Carta Capital magazine and, for 45 minutes, answered some questions brought by reporter Thais Reis Oliveira. The interview was carried out at the Mother House of the Heralds of the Gospel and was attended by Fr. Alex Barbosa de Brito, member of the Virgo Flos Carmeli Clerical Society of Apostolic Life and spiritual assistant to the Heralds of the Gospel.
The interview began with a question from the reporter about the position of the Heralds specifically in the face of the complaints made. "The Institution has its lawyers, they are already following the process" replied Fr. Alex.
Watch the response in the video below:
To better understand this issue, the priest thought it to contextualize the subject.
"We are facing a typical picture of religious persecution, religious intolerance."
The reporter reports that more than a dozen former members who now accuse the Heralds of the Gospel were interviewed by the Capital Charter. However, the priest pointed out, about 4,000 members are the male and female sector of this Institution, there were 4,000 other people. In other over 5,000 are co-workers of the Heralds. Of these countless people we have thousands of favorable reports, which expresses the disproportion with the number of those who accuse us.
On the other hand, they are always the same people with the same accounts – many of whom have not even belonged to the institution – emphasizes the priest. "This is like to prove it." Although at first they speak well of the institution, over time they began to speak ill not only of the Heralds, but of bishops and even the pope. Which characterizes a movement of religious intolerance.
However, the police stations themselves are establishing a slanderous whistleblower inquiry, because the disaffections do not present evidence and thus the government itself is obliged to carry out a procedure to prove that there was a misuse of the public machine.
So the reporter took advantage of the circumstance to ask if any visits had already been made by public officials at the institution's homes. "Yes, but there are already the lawyers responding with all peace of mind," Concluded Fr. Alex.
